HOLIDAY HOURS:  The Library will be closed Saturday-Monday, Sept. 4-6, for Labor Day.  Regular hours resume at 10 am on Tues., Sept. 7th.  We apologize for any inconvenience.

Our September CALENDAR and NEWSLETTER are now available.

Congratulations to our STAR READERS!  This year, in our 5th Annual Summer Reading Program, 794 children “reached for the stars,” and 382 turned in reading logs!  They read a whopping total of 405,411 MINUTES, or 6,757 HOURS!

Thank you to all the kids who participated, and to all the parents who brought them to the library, and kept track of the reading logs.  If you haven’t picked up your prizes yet, please stop by the library at your convenience.

Congratulations, too, to all the adults and teens who won a prize in our 1st ever reading program for you!  Please help us thank all the local businesses that supported these programs with cash and in-kind donations, and all the volunteers who helped us with the programs and daily tasks to keep the library going.  And thank you to the City of Bee Cave for making it all possible!

NEW!  For detailed information about storytime themes, books suggestions, and tips for reading to your children, check out our new storytime blog, The Bee’s Storytime Buzz.   NOTE:  The library may photograph or videotape storytime and other events for library promotional purposes. Please notify library staff if you do not wish to be photographed.

It’s Award Season, and the Winners are… see what books our patrons voted as our Top 50 Fiction and Top 50 Nonfiction books of 2009 based on how often they were checked out!

The Bee Cave Book Club meets once a month at the library on a Thursday evening to discuss an eclectic and interesting selection of fiction and nonfiction.  The BCBC is an informal group of individuals of all ages who come together to share a love of reading and relaxed conversation.  We welcome all new members, and invite everyone who is interested to join us, even if you have not read the book.  For a complete list of dates and titles, please see the 2010 Bee Cave Book Club Selections. For more information, contact Angela at 767-6625 or apalmer@beecavetexas.gov.

LEARN A NEW LANGUAGE with Mango Languages! Log on using your Bee Cave library card number, and learn to speak another language.  It’s free and easy to use—nothing to download or install.  There are 12 languages available, with more to come.  Try this great new resource made possible by a grant from the Loan Star Libraries program of the Texas State Library and Archives Commission.
